True Love and Homegrown Tomatoes

Just a friendly reminder.... Spring is right around the corner! And for a little inspiration well, who better than Guy Clark to remind us. I don't know when it happened but this is my tomato inspiration every single year! Besides, it puts a smile on my face.

    1. kymber you have the awesomest (is that a word?) greenhouse and I know you'll be spending all sorts of time out there singing and talking to your plants.
I'm ready to get out there and start doing something but so far we've not got even one row ready to plant. It's coming along though, the weather has been messing with us badly. I feel so behind in getting things in the ground though.
Thanks for asking about the back. I seem to be healing much slower than anticipated. I'm hoping to catch up as fast as I can though.
Hugs to both of ya. And keep us posted on the greenhouse.

  2. I have an aunt who is only a year or so older than me. When we were about 6 or 7 we would get a biscuit from a little warming area on Granny's wood stove and the salt shaker. We would hit Pap's (my grandfather) tomato plants and pick us a tomato to go in our biscuit. Granny was forever asking us to go get her salt shaker from the garden. Nothing like a good old tomato sandwich that drips down your arms while you eat it!

    1. LOL we used to do the same thing. Had to go and remember where DID we leave the salt shaker. And man oh man I love a tomato sammich! The drip down your arms is to remind you of tomato heaven.

  3. SCI,

Oh yes, Spring is just a hop....skip....and a jump away!!!!
I'm biting at the bit to get out there and start planting.
We picked up 4 bales of straw today. I need to get the bales prepped for planting.
I'm going to experiment a little with growing veggies on bales of straw.
Hopefully, this year I'll have all kinds of tomatoes to can :-)
I can tell you're biting at the bit to plant too :P

    1. Sandy, it seems one day its arrived and the next it says .... nahhh not just yet. I'm real curious about your straw bale project. Keep us up on the who what where and when if you can.
Girl, you won't believe it but we still don't have rows prepared for planting. I feel like we are wayyyy behind.
      Take care,

  4. Hi there, was wondering if you knew what happened to M M Paints blog Self Sufficient Living? Google says that it no longer exists and I've search a few different ways on the web but can't find anything. Any news?

    1. She's taking a hiatus but is ok. All the drama around her homestead (read azzhat neighbor) has taken it's toll on her.
Sorry but I can't really say much more than that.

    2. Good to know she's ok. Feel for her with the neighbor bit, we've got a doozie here as well. Thanks for the update.
