What a year 2009 has been. I have made some amazing new friends this year and in doing so I've learned a whole new set of skills. For that I am grateful.
We grew a great garden. I learned to can this year. It's cool that I can do more than just put up tomato's! I became a dehydrating fool. (thanks for the Nesco Mom) I made my first jellies and apple butter too. I put up some really good Bread n Butter pickles. Pickled okra and pickled peppers too! Oh and I started making my own laundry soap. I started making my own bread.
The point is that I learned skills I didn't have before. Now I know that I'm not a pro or anything, but its good to work on skills that will be useful in the future. Anything I can learn to become more self-reliant is what I strive for.
Who knows what 2010 will bring? For just this once I won't say a word about the country going down the crapper. LOL I just found myself having to delete a good paragraph rant!! I figure I can leave that for the new year.
Mars and I will be starting on a new journey this year. We have decided to start over again. Pretty much like we did when we made the decision to move into the RV. Only this time, it is all about finding a place to lay down roots. It's time for us to move on. Why not? We aren't getting any younger and we sure aren't getting anywhere here. We are going to sell our version of the "McMansion" and buy a small trailer and hit the road. Find some land and just DO it. We have been busy with getting things packed, sold, sorted out and culled. I am excited! I don't know were this will end up but it ought to interesting!
So stay tuned, there are bound to be at least some good stories to come out of all this!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
I'm eager to start this new year too, Sci. I'm glad you've decided to buy a small trailer before you hit the road. Now I won't worry about you sleeping in your truck! :)
ReplyDeletePrep on, Sista!
Good for y'all Sci! That's what life is all about...
ReplyDeleteIt will be a great trip. Been in the "Little One" 2004 Roadtrek since Auguest 2009. Just love the Freedom. And the joy of not feeding the beast any more than I have to.
ReplyDeleteSee Ya
One suggestion while you are looking for the promised land, Free Boondocking at Slab City california. lots of folks there who can help with solar and off grid life.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! I look forward to meeting you while you venture around!

ReplyDeleteThank you all so much for your kind words and good wishes.
ReplyDeleteFel n HB I suppose I should have mentioned the trailer awhile back. It has been part of the plan from the start. See what assuming does for me? LOL
Gosh, I wish I were in your area so I could come over and help you. The smaller trailer sounds like - IS - a great plan.
