People try to make life way more complicated than it has to be. With all that is going on around us, we need to get back to the simple life. Its a concept easily lost. Sometimes life just gets crazy. So when it does just take a step back... and breathe. Look at the beauty that is all around you. Life is a precious gift and at the end of the day... when you look at your accomplishments...you have to realize its really not all that complicated. Its just Bacon and Eggs!
In case you haven't figured it out yet, I am what some folks are now referring to as a prepper. Which really just means that I am trying to learn to be as self-sufficient as possible and to try and be ready for any major (or minor) disaster that might come our way. I'm learning how to do alot of things the way my grandparents did them. Being cheap...errr I mean frugal...is a part of who I am.
I love thrift stores and garage sales. You just never know what you will find. I like canning and I am a hands down fool for dehydrating! I'm learning to knit, crochet and I've even learned how to make soap. I don't buy bread from the store. Cookies, cakes and pies are all homemade. We both have a sweet tooth so it's a good thing I love to bake! If you look in my pantry you won't find much processed food. I'm not saying we don't eat processed food but I've noticed that when you start cooking from scratch there is a lot less need for processed "crap".
My husband and I hope one day in the near future to buy a couple of acres of land out away from the hustle and bustle of the city and raise a big garden, a few chickens, some rabbits and maybe a goat or two.
(Update- We have found an acre of land out in the hills and are now living here full time. The nearest "Little Big Town" is about 40 miles away and we just love it. We've got chickens and rabbits now, and goats are still in the future at some point. Of course we are still working on getting things "together" but I've got a feeling that there will always be something to work on. One thing for sure.... I don't see ever running out of things to do! )
In the mean time I tend to rattle on about whatever happens to cross my mind on any given day... So there ya have it! I hope you enjoy your visit and that you will come back often to see what's going on around here!
