Cop or Soldier

Don't laugh.... This wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. If you want to see how you do HERE is the link.

Cop or Soldier? » online quiz

If you decide to take the quiz leave me a comment and let me know how YOU did. It's kind of scary to think how much the lines have started to blur.  Don't worry if you score low, I've got a feeling many will.

Thanks to WireCutter for the link.

    1. Same here Tim. It was hard for me to distinguish the difference in uniforms. Although it got me to noticing the headgear differences.

  3. Don't feel bad people. There are plenty of misidentified pics. I stopped at the pic of the "Cop" on an armored vehicle sporting a TOW-like missile.

    1. Mama Bear, I'm not sure but I think that some of the "COPS" were LEO in other countries. Not fair! But it makes you stop and think doesn't it?

    2. SciFiChick, I spent almost 30 years working alongside the PD as a firefighter/paramedic. If you look closley, there is a difference, and I don't begrudge any of our police (well maybee NY, Chicago and some other big cities that don't get it) anything that makes there job easier and preferably safer!

    1. Momlady, I think that's what worries me the most. LEO's all over the country are getting new equipment that I personally don't think they need. Almost like they KNOW something is coming....

    1. I'm pretty sure a couple of them are not correct. Like the 12th picture that has the TOW missile. Still you didn't do so bad!

  10. I got 16 right thanks to the hint about headgear. While we don't know where in the world these photos were taken it is still scary. Just think, someday we may be seeing people in this get-up and not know where in the world they came from or why they are on our city street corners.

    1. What really scares me is that the military is already on the streets doing check points and they ARE wearing this gear.

  11. I got 18 out of 21 but I was Army and in Europe as well so the uniforms were what jumped out at me.

  12. I'd like to add that we are probably screwed if any of those in the photo's come calling.

    1. They are arming the police with tanks in several cities around the US. Federally funded I might add.

  16. Very interesting. I scored 15 correct, a couple of them I went for my second thought instead of first.. I know better than that but also see how blurry things are too.

  17. Scored a 16. The face paint pic through me off. I tried to check rank, headgear, and boots. Some really through me off. I didn't know long hair was allowed in military. That one got me too. Tanks for military are usually not pretty and shiny, knew that one off the bat. Yes, I'm a vet and couldn't tell the difference on some.

    1. Shelly, I had to wonder about the long hair myself. I've got my doubts about a couple of these pictures. LOL That was one thing that helped me too... shiny new tanks.

    2. The long hair was probably spec ops guys. They grow beards and long hair to fit in with the locals. The guy with the face paint had a sheriff's badge on his chest. The paint was something to throw us off I guess.

  18. I got 16 out of the 21. Some of them were trick pictures though. A few of the soldier ones were not in proper uniform like the one on the range, armed and hatless, when at least an American soldier is suppose to be covered at all times when armed. A few others I suspect were operating as aggressors in a training operation and were allowed to wear non-regulation items for an added touch.

    1. I had totally forgotten about being covered when armed. I guess its a good thing because I got that one right! lol Thanks for the insight at to the training operations.

  19. 19 out of 21. Helmets and patches give away a lot. The glossy paint on helos and armored vehicles gives it away too. Good post, thanks. Makes you wonder where the friendly cops are?

    1. Wow! Nice score!!! I'm afraid that most of us are not nearly as "sharp" concerning noticing details. It really makes me stop and think that our observation skills could be brushed up on some. Just in case we need it, ya know?

  20. Scary to see how the police have been militarized. They are being taught to suspect everyone, and are no longer seen as the protectors of the weak they were when we were kids. I still remember pictures of Elian Gonzales being "arrested" for deportation back to Cuba. It has only gotten worse since then.

  21. It is truly sad how the perception of LEO has changed in this country. It's also sad that they HAVE changed that much. I'm not saying there aren't good cops out there, just that even in the training of LEO these days they are more and more militarized.

  22. I did OK but I had a bit of advantage looking at clues like weapons and uniforms (camouflage patterns)helmets etc. I did guess #12 (I think) was cop because the tank looking vehicle had rubber tires (you have to look hard to see the tops of them. Some were definitely foreign though.
    Good post.

  23. 17 correct here...but then I was raised military, was in the military, my fella is in the Army and I live close to Ft Bliss. Still...some of them were very close...and scary when you stop to think about it!

It is sad that the police are turning into just another arm of the military. In fact, I would not be surprised if the the collectivists federalize the police and make them a branch of the military. The same way the Coast Guard went from being part of the Treasury Department to the Department of the Navy.
